[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:98b&hcup.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:98b&hcup.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:05, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peer review
Hi. Just thought I would let you know (in case you missed it on the article's peer review page) I completed a pretty thorough peer review on the article you submitted to peer review, Nottingham Panthers. I have an article up for peer review as well if you felt like returning the favor. ;).A mcmurray 08:29, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your suggestions. I'll take them into consideration. I'm pretty new to this peer review aspect of Wikipedia but I'll take a look at your article. Kim Williams 21:59, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Tv the muppet show bein green.jpg
Hello Kim Williams, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Tv the muppet show bein green.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Kim Williams. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 05:04, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] New York Yankees GA
Thank you for taking the time to review this article. But instead of a downright failure, can you at least put the nomination on hold so that we have a chance to fix it? I can fix anything within a few days. Sportskido8 16:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ah don't worry about it. As you said it can be easily be put up for re-nomination so it's not a big deal anyway. Thanks again for the advice. Sportskido8 18:34, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Good Article (GA) review of Nottingham Panthers
I've reviewed this article and found only a few minor issues and have placed the review on hold. If the issues can be resolved within five days I'll approve the article for GA. My comments are on the article's talk page. Please feel free to ask me any questions there or on my talk page. CLA 01:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Kim Williams! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject! From the project, Maxim. edit

Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. edit
Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. edit
Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. edit

Did You Know? By Maxim
...that Wally Tatomir, head equipment manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, holds four patents on ice hockey-related equipment?
...that ice hockey player Mark Major attained 355 penalty minutes during the 1997-98 AHL season for the Portland Pirates, where he averaged 4.5 penalty minutes a game and still holds the club record?
...that Garth Butcher was a member of Canada's first-ever gold medal team at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships before becoming a pest and setting team records for penalty minutes in the National Hockey League?
..that the AMP NHL Winter Classic is scheduled to be the first regular-season outdoor National Hockey League game in the United States? edit
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

[edit] Jack Dryburgh
Hi Kim, I've noticed you peeking at my sandbox ;-) As you've probably noticed I'm working on an article about Jack Dryburgh. Do you know if he ever actually played for the Panthers? According to his hall of fame entry he moved south the play for them before moving back to Edinburgh as he couldn't get a job, but it isn't clear whether he actually iced for them. Do you have access to anything that would confirm? Cheers -- JD554 11:45, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Kim, you're an absolute star! -- JD554 12:15, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Panthers-Steelers Rivalry
Of course I'd be more tempted to call it a Steelers-Panthers rivalry ;-)
It's a good idea from Oldelpaso, but I'd be wary about calling it the "biggest rivalry in British hockey" as that is certainly POV, especially to Fife/Dundee fans or Guildford/Bracknell fans etc.
I wasn't around when the rivalry started, but from what I've been told it seemed to start in the 94/95 Heineken season when Sheffield were quite far behind but put a long run together to just beat Nottingham to the league title. All of this was, of course, whipped up into a frenzy by he-who-must-not-be-named. Then there were the finals which we seemed to always meet you in over the next few years and then "that" bench clearance in February 2001.
The finals and the bench clearance are well documented enough, but I can't find anything online about the 94/95 title chase. I've got Sluyter's A Game of Three Halves which might have something in, but it's probably better covered in his Seasons to be Chearful which I don't have. I'll let you know --JD554 (talk) 12:57, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think you're probably right. Although the seeds were sown 92/93 the rivalry itself won't have been able to start until 93/94 when they were in the same division. I'll check Sluyter's book tonight and let you know if I find anything useful. --JD554 (talk) 15:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Kim, I've had a flick through A Game of Three Halves, but unfortunately it doesn't mention the rivalry. I don't think I have any other sources which would cover it, sorry. Although if I think of anything, I'll be sure to let you know. --JD554 (talk) 20:30, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:LogoHullStingrays.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:LogoHullStingrays.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 00:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Kim Williams! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been many more new things going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in October, there have been many new changes. I'm hoping to make this newsletter a bit more regular; Kaiser matias and Skudrafan1 asked for a new issue a week ago, but sadly, I've been a bit lazy and committed to other things hence this other delay. --Maxim(talk) edit

Task forces By Maxim There was a new taskforce created within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Boston Bruins. It was originally founded as a separate WikiProject, but was quickly turned into a taskforce within WikiProject Ice Hockey. The list of participants is located here. Located at WP:BRUINS, the taskforce's goals are to make Boston Bruins and Bobby Orr featured articles. Good luck! edit
New Administrators By Maxim
A previously admin-only feature has been made available for all users. The rollback feature allows a user to quickly revert vandalism with one click. If you wish to have rollback, contact an active admin or post a request to WP:RFR. edit
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY. edit

[edit] Yaaaaaaay!
All I can say is I'm glad things are changing for the better! :Þ I'm not sure which page(s) you mean. Do you mean the season pages like Sheffield Steelers seasons? If so, the only other way I could see of incorporating it would be to split each competition into it's own section. A table could still be used at the top to give just the very basic information such as:
Season | League | Level | Autumn Cup | Knockout Cup | League | Playoffs | Challenge Cup |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2007-08 | EIHL | 1 | N/A | Lost | 2nd | Won | Runners-up |
Or maybe the table could be split into a different table for each league and only showing the relevant competitions. The Autumn Cup column could then be removed from the Elite League part for example. JD554 (talk) 11:13, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Edit summary
I notice you do not always add brief description when editing pages ie Nottingham Panthers - wikipedia says... It is good practice to fill in the Edit Summary field, or add to it in the case of section editing, as it helps everyone to understand what is changed, such as when perusing the history of the page. It's a good idea to set your user preferences (under Editing) to "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary". I know its easily forgotten but it does help, well done with the Panthers page. [edit] Photos help
Hi Kim, I'm afraid I'm no expert on the images front. I think that image needs to come under the GFDL but how that gets proved when someone e-mails you I don't know. There seems to be more information at WP:IUP and I would think that you would get better (and more accurate) advice on the talk page there. Cheers --JD554 (talk) 07:05, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
