[edit] Aboriginal peoples in Canada
I have reverted your change to Aboriginal peoples in Canada. Please review the debate that occured on the Canadian wikipedians' notice board regarding that article. If you still believe the article's content should be deleted or merged with another article, please state so on the notice board or on the Talk:Aboriginal peoples in Canada page, along with your justifications for doing so. You, I, and other Wikipedians can then debate your proposal. Thanks, Kurieeto 02:34, May 6, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] James Douglas
Thanks for your kind message, Kilter, and for joining me in giving heck regarding the removal of Douglas' image from that article and from the Colony of British Columbia article. Fraser was the first Wiki project I did - I thought he really deserved better than what he had, so I signed up! As for Douglas, I haven't actually done that much work on it, and in fact I it is on my "to do" list. Cheers to you! Fishhead64 07:27, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] James Douglas
First off, please assume good faith and be civil. Accusing me of being incompetent certainly doesn't put you on my good side. Anyway, that image had been tagged for deletion for having no source. It was the responsibility of the user who tagged it as such only to inform the uploader User:JillandJack (who happens to be banned, so s/he was not so notified for this particular image). I did my due diligence via Google to try and find its source, seeing as how it should most probably be legitimately public domain being so old, but was unable to find it. If you want to see the image, you can find it on one of Wikipedia's mirrors, such as Answers.com. In fact, here it is. A word of advice next time you want to leave a mean-spirited message on someone's talk page: Don't. Regards, howcheng {chat} 17:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- As a side note, you should check out the image description page of each image that's included in articles you care about and make sure they conform to policy. Don't get mad when administrators such as myself come along and delete things when we're supposed to. I even went beyond the call of duty to find a free use image to replace that one with. If you really care about these things, you'll be proactive instead. howcheng {chat} 23:27, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Grant tartan.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Grant tartan.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:GrantMacEwan.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:GrantMacEwan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jusjih 14:17, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Calgary Wikipedia Meetup
With the municipal election coming up, I figured it would be good to have another local meet of Wikipedia contributors in Calgary. This would be a chance to chat about Wikipedia stuff in general, but also to discuss ways to cover the election on Wikipedia. I’m suggesting next week, at a location (TBD) in the downtown area. If you’re interested in participating, please vote on when you’d like to schedule the meet. Thanks. —GrantNeufeld 21:59, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MacEwan LtGov.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:MacEwan LtGov.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:17, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
