From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi there AmazeStar!

First off I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, I've had a busy few days. I will try to always answer your questions in a timely fashion.

I did a review of your edit history here on Wikipedia and you are off to a great start! Your article on Africa, Ohio is a great beginning. One thing I would suggest is that you always add an edit summary to your contributions. Even a brief comment like, 'fixed typo', or 'grammer fix' is helpful to other editors when tracking changes or checking for vandalism. A good explanation of this can be found at Help:Edit summary. I also see that you have added a picture to the article and congratulate you on figuring this out. It took me a while to get through the complicated instructions for this!

About adoption. I have created a special page for us to use for questions and answers here and put a copy of this message there also. You might want to put a link to this page on your user page and add it to your watchlist. There is also a link to the adoption talk pages of all my adoptees on this page, you can see other adoptees questions and my answers by clicking the links there. You can really ask me any questions that you might have about using Wikipedia. I might not have all the answers but I know where to find them and look forward to helping you learn your way around. If you would like, you can write me a short bit of info about yourself on our new talk page. If I know a little about you and your interests I can probably help you better.

Alrighty then, and welcome to Wikipedia! killing sparrows (chirp!) 04:16, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

Hello AmazeStar,

The best way to learn about vandalism is to read WP:VANDAL, which will tell you what vandalism is and what it isn't. This page also will tell you how to deal with vandalism when you encounter it on a page. Generally, any edit that is made in good faith is not vandalism. Unless you deliberately make an edit that is destructive, you will not be thought of as a vandal. The best way to learn about Wikipedia is to read the pages that I will direct you to, such as the two links above. You don't need to read every WP page at once, indeed it is better to read them when questions that relate to them occur to you so that you see the practical application. Most all of these pages are short and clearly written but if you have questions about how they apply to specific situations after reading them do ask me. killing sparrows (chirp!) 05:10, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

Thank you again for your help and for your kind words about my first article.

I've worked in science, professor/researcher. I'm chiefly interested in nature, history, and photography (and many other topics). I would like, mainly, to add information about scientific topics and about local history and activities in Ohio.

I will try to add the edit summary as soon as I figure out what it is.

Also there was a note on my User talk:AmazeStar page that the article about Delaware County, Ohio needed more material. I have added references and will try to add information about the County's history and its importance today. I do not know how to reply to --Fuhghettaboutit, however and could use some help in trying to figure out how to contact people.

Another question - is there any way to place the contents box and the illustrations in particular places in an article? Thanks again for your help.
