[edit] Overview

Cam'ron's debut into the film world chronicles a loosely autobiographical plot of his own transformation from a high school basketball star to a full time cocaine dealer. Cam'ron's character is named "Flea."

The movie also starred Juelz Santana as "Bandana" and Hell Rell as Hell.

Other members of the Diplomats who made appearances in the film included 40 Cal, Un Kasa, J. R. Writer and "Chubbie Baby," who served as Flea's supplier of firearms. However, these three members played minor roles and their parts did not involve much dialogue. Jim Jones, The Diplomats co-founder, is seen only briefly in the beginning of the film. However, near the end of the scene in which the Diplomats go to Atlanta, Jim Jones is blurred out but can be identified by one of his slogans.

The movie was released in 2006, nearly simultaneously with the Killa Season album. It was shown at a few theaters in New York City and is available on DVD.

In one scene, female Colombian drug mules defecate onto newspaper in an abandoned apartment. They are then made to clean off the "fingers" of heroin they've smuggled in.

Many viewers mistake the powder in the movie as cocaine instead of heroin. Flea actually sells 'chyna white,' which is a white powder form of heroin. In the scene where Flea watches a 'drug fiend' snort the powder and fall on the ground because the powder's so potent, many mistakingly assume the powder is cocaine since the fiend snorts it. Chyna white, which is usually off-white or brownish, is a form of heroin that can be snorted, and obviously injected as well. The 'fiend' in this scene is also shown swaying back and forth, seeming to be at peace. Heroin is a 'downer' where knodding out is common, which is closer to what 'the fiend' is doing, rather than how one would act on cocaine(an 'upper'). Flea and his crew are shown bagging the heroin, getting it ready to be sold on the steet. Unless one has been around heroin where this film takes place(Cam'ron himself's native Harlem, NY), some viewers might find it confusing. They bag the heroin in a rectangular glassine baggie, fold it over twice, tape it, and stamp it with a brand name, their stamp obviously reading 'Killa.' This is how heroin is sold in the NY-NJ Metropolitan area, predominantly found in inner city crimeridden areas, such as Harlem, the Bronx and parts of the other NY burroughs, Newark NJ, Patterson NJ, East Orange NJ, etc. Most of the time, heroin powder, sold in the streets, is of off-white or brownish color, which is why Flea fully prides himelf on his completely white supply, as opposed to the average dingy looking heroin powder. It is so pure, he becomes a huge success with the customers on his block, and in turn devours tons of cash. But with cash comes a fight to take Flea's spot at the top. Some other dealers even attempt to replicate Flea's stamp('killa') to attract his customers, but with yellowy dingier colored heroin, not Flea's own more potent white powder. So, with more money and power also comes drama and chaos. Chaos further ensues when some local criminals try to bring him down.

[edit] Production Mishaps

  • In the scene in which Flea's supplier Gordo attempts to convince him to switch from weed- to cocaine-dealing, he compares a bag of weed to a Honda (i.e. a middle-of-the road drug, that won't lead to anything special) and a bag of cocaine to a Ferrari (i.e. a top-of-the-line drug which could lead Flea to "baller-status"). He then asks Flea which "car" he wants to go with. Flea, after weighing his options, decides to stick with weed, yet mistakenly refers to it as "the Hyundai."
