Kihansi Charaxes is a new species of butterflies discovered in (the proposed) Kihansi Conservation Area in Tanzania. Devolent Mtui, a researcher scientist working for Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute made the discovery. The Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology and some researchers at the African Butterfly Research Institute based in Nairobi recognize the discovery.
The caterpillars of this species feed on a plant growth - diospyros natalensis, that grows at Kihansi Gorge and along the river above Kihansi Falls.
