Kiev River Port

The Kiev River Port (Ukrainian: Київський Річковий Вокзал; translit. Kyivskyi Richkovyi Vokzal) is the main river port of Kiev, located on the right bank of the Dnieper River in Podil, historic and administrative raion of the city.

Since ancient times the Podil neighborhood was an important trade center, especially by water routes.
Around the 19th Century, steamboats started to navigate along the Dnieper, and a row of quays were built along the Right Bank of the river.
[edit] Passenger terminal of the port
In 1953-1961 a new passenger terminal was built on the Poshtova Square by the architechts V. Gopkalo, V. Ladny, and others. The building has a mast-like tower which resembles a steamboat tower.
