Kierland Commons is a lifestye center in Phoenix, Arizona directly bordering Scottsdale, Arizona. The community began construction in 1995 and was completed in 2000. The primary developer was Woodbine Development Corporation of Dallas and the development was designed by Nelsen Architects (now known as Nelsen Partners).
[edit] Development
Kierland Commons was the first lifestyle center in Arizona [1]. The development includes shopping, dining, entertainment, and residences. The Kierland Commons includes The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, the 27-hole Kierland Golf Club, and upscale residential lofts. Two new luxury condominium towers are under construction, the Landmark at Kierland and the Plaza Lofts at Kierland.
The retail area has about 75 stores, restaurants and services on approximately 38 acres and cost approximately US$65 million to build. Like many shopping centers in the Phoenix area it is managed by the Westcor division of Macerich.
In 2003, Westcor opened La Encantada in Tucson, which has many of the exact same stores as Kierland but a different design.
Some notable retailers at the center includ Anthropologie, Bose, Charles David, Coach, Crate & Barrel, ECCO, Eileen Fisher, French Connection, Gauthier L'atelier, Harari, Jacadi Paris, Jennifer Croll, Lather, BCBG Max Azria, Sigrid Olsen, Banana Republic, Cache, Lucky Brand Jeans, Guess and Tommy Bahama.
