Kids with a Cause was founded by Linda Finnegan in September 1999, to teach the principles and practices of philanthropy to today's youth through interactive programs. Their goal is to provide solutions to specific problems affecting children who suffer from poverty, lack of education or health-related issues.
The members behind Kids with a Cause are primarily celebrity youth and teens (from film, television and the recording industry). One notable member is singer and actress Hilary Duff, who gives about a five-minute shot of her working in Kids With A Cause in the original DVD of A Cinderella Story (behind the scenes section).
Their members participate in the development and implementation of programs and projects designed to improve the quality of life for less fortunate youth. These programs enable their Support Stars and recipient children to participate together. These programs help to fulfill basic needs and also enhance self-esteem and build confidence for today's children.
Kids with a Cause is a non-governmental organization (NGO) associated with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations, allowing the charity to expand its services to children around the world.
