It is home to a butcher's shop and a weekly flea market. Because the town is small and little known, it depends on the Wayne County Sheriff Dept. for protection.

There is an underground water spring in the town, and a protected forest is located nearby. Surrounding countryside is largely used for farming.
A small public elementary school, for students in the first five grades, is located in Kidron and is part of the Dalton school system. Central Christian School is a private school owned and operated by the Ohio Conference of theMennonite Church.
