Kidde

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kidde (pronounced "kidda") is a corporation that manufactures and distributes fire detection and extinguishing equipment. The company is named after Walter Kidde, the founder of the US business.

The group originated in 1988 following Williams Holdings' acquisition of Graviner Ltd and its subsidiaries Deugra in Germany and Detector Electronics in the United States. The Walter Kidde Group, which included the Kidde and Fenwal companies in the US and UK, was also part of the acquisition.

In November 2000, Kidde became an independent company.

In 2005, Kidde was acquired by United Technologies Corporation and was combined with Chubb Security, also a former Williams Holdings' company, and several other brands to create UTC Fire & Security.
