Kenan Institute Asia (K.I.Asia) (Official, registered name: Kenan Foundation Asia)
K.I.Asia is a Thailand-based, non-profit organization with charitable status.
K.I.Asia’s mission is to promote partnerships for sustainable competitiveness in Asia, with a particular focus on the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). Specifically, our programs promote better business practices for good governance, social and environmental responsibility and sustainable competitiveness; enable preservation of the environment through public-private partnerships and good business practices; facilitate the use of information and communication technologies for education and for bridging the digital divide between rich and poor; support capacity building and human resource development; provide approaches to improved public health through schools and community-based organizations to reduce the threat of infectious disease in the region; develop public-private-academic partnerships and Asian-American linkages; and, assist SMEs in the region improve their capacity to reach global markets.
K.I.Asia formally registered in 1996 with an endowment provided by the William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust and Fund, Thailand’s Department of Technical and Economic Cooperation (DTEC), and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Today, K.I.Asia receives financial support through grants, consulting and management fees and the proceeds from its endowment. Thanks to this support, K.I.Asia manages a number of sustainable development programs in four main areas: Better Business Practices, Human Capacity Development and Education, Public Health, and Environmental Management.
