[edit] Characteristics of School
[edit] School Mission
To enlighten students' learning potential and to nourish their personality. To uphold their academic results and moral accomplishment, supplementing suitable extra-curricular activities. Emphasis is laid on the spirit of students' self-discipline and self-awareness. Students are expected to treat people with sincerity, understanding and respect.
[edit] Management & Organization
A School Board is responsible for directing and supervising the school policy, and offers us additional financial support when necessary. The Principal heads various departments in undertaking daily administrative affairs.
[edit] Learning & Teaching
Students' intellectual development and discipline are our prime concern. Our "Rewards and Penalties System" encourages students to be proactive in study and be an upright man. Large-scale activities like Reading Scheme provide students with life-wide learning opportunities. Subject exhibitions and tutorial classes nurture students to be good in Chinese and English as well as in arts and sciences.
[edit] School Ethos & Support to Students
The school accords great importance to cultivating students’ moral character. We hope that our students, by loving themselves and developing their self-discipline and self-confidence, be able to help and love each other, and have the courage to face difficulties and challenges in the real world.
[edit] Policy on Medium of Instruction
Our school adopts Putonghua as the medium of instruction for subjects taught in Chinese. Following a shift to mother-tongue teaching, more English teachers are recruited. To attain the idea of "biliteracy and trilingualism", measures like English Enrichment courses on Saturday were adopted.
[edit] Policy on Curriculum
Tailor-made curriculum for junior form students with different level of abilities has been developed. Liberal Studies are offered in Junior Form to cope with the need of education reform. Diversified learning activities, such as cross-disciplinary Project Learning and the like, are adopted in Junior Forms. In Form 4 & 5, every two English classes will be split into three groups to reduce the teacher-student ratio and to enhance teaching quality.
[edit] Academic & Non-academic Performance
Our HKCEE results are always above the overall HK average. One of our students got 6A2(level 5) excellent result last year. Every year over 50% of our Form 7 students secure a place in a tertiary institution. Our school attaches great importance to the all-rounded development of our students. We are committed to fostering our students' creativity and independent thinking. Our students won many prizes and awards in various inter-school competitions in recent years. Every year, student's trips to mainland are organized to broaden students' vision and understanding of our country. The tours enable students to build friendship with youths from around the world.
[edit] Support Measures for Academically Gifted/Under-privileged Students
Our School Board has offered a number of scholarships for excellent students. Centralized supplementary lessons for senior forms are arranged throughout the year.
[edit] Teaching & Learning in Information Technology
A campus-wide optical network has been installed to support teachers' classroom teaching. The school's intra-net system is accessible in every classroom and staff room.
[edit] Whole School Approach to Catering for Student Diversity
Individual counseling by teachers. Provide special curriculum for gifted students
[edit] Training and Development for Teachers
Every year the school will arrange at least two "Staff Development Day" with topics related to our key areas of development identified for that particular year.
[edit] Focus development of the current school year and items of forthcoming development
This year, we focus on the development of new senior secondary curriculum and Liberal Studies. Another focus is "Safe & Healthy School Programme".
[edit] School life
Orientation / Summer Activities for S.1 Intakes: Every year, an Orientation Programme will be held for F.1 students to brief them on the school’s latest development and policy. To help the new students settle into secondary school life, English and Mathematics summer courses in the form of small-group learning are offered. The tutors of the English courses are students from famous overseas universities/colleges, like Winchester College, UK, and local international schools.
