Kiamokama

Kiamokama is a small farming community in South West Of Kenya in the Kisii District, Nyanza Province.

It is located at Decimal Degrees -0.8333333 Latitude and 34.88333 Longitude. In DMS (Degrees, Minutes, Seconds) Kiamokama is located at 0° -50' 0 N Latitude and 34° 52' 60 E Longitude.

Most of the people in Kiamokama are Abagusii. They speak Ekegusii(native language), swahili (Kenya's national language)and English. Other tribal languages are sporadically spoken around Kiamokama and This include dholuo, luhya and Egesigisi. Kiamokama has produced a rich pedigree of citizens spread all over the world. Notable athletes include 'New York' and 'Boston' marathon winner Margaret Okayo and international marathon runner Philes Ongori.

Kiamokama has established a tea factory to process the product grown in the Gusii Highlands. Due to the fertile nature of the Gusii highlands, many diffent types of fruits including Avocadoes, Guavas, Lemons, and Ebirangwat grow everywhere a mature seed falls.

The prominent schools in the area include Chironge, Masabo and Mobamba. They are all public schools.
