Khrabrovo Airport (Russian Аэропорт Храброво, German Powunden) (IATA: KGDICAO: UMKK) is located 24 km north of Kaliningrad, east off the Zelenogradsk highway. The airport, part of which is still military, is a bare landing strip with few frills for passengers. In 2007 the airport had 1.204.060 passengers.

The airport is the main hub for the airline KD Avia in addition to other airlines offering services to domestic destinations and to Northern and Eastern Europe.

  • 1922 - Joint Russian-German joint venture Deruluft starts flights on first scheduled international route Koenigsberg (Devau airport) - Moscow
  • 1945 - Airport is transferred to Civil Air Fleet of USSR
  • 1961 - Joint Air Squadron formed at the basis of airport and airline
  • 1977 - Operations of Tupolev-134 begin
  • 1979 - Passenger terminal is built in Khrabrovo
  • 1988 - Tupolev-154s begin operations to Kaliningrad
  • 1992 - Enterprise separates from Vnukovo Production association and becomes independent entity
  • 1993 - First scheduled international flights begin. Two Tupolev-154s are purchased
  • 1997 - Air enterprise is renamed “Kaliningrad Avia”
  • 2001 - Air enterprise is in receivership
  • 2002 - Change of ownership structure. Transformation into Joint Stock Company
  • 2004 – Beginning of reconstruction of runway, apron, navigation equipment
  • 2005 – Air enterprise renamed “KD Avia”
  • 2007 - opening of the new terminal

The following city bus line connect the airport:

  • to Kaliningrad, No. 138 by Koenig-Auto (КёнигАвто); to Kaliningrad Main Bus/Railway Station.

The International Sector (terminal) is 3 km from the Domestic terminal. The bus does not serve the International Sector therefore it is advisable to have private transportation prearranged.
