[edit] Glad to see you here!
Was glad to see kharker show up in the history for Amateur radio - I've been enjoying your cartography in NCJ. And was really glad to see someone tackle radiosport/contesting. I think we should rename the Contesting article to Radio Contesting or maybe Contesting (Radiosport). --N5UWY/9 - plaws 21:24, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Amateur Radio Direction Finding
I did a little experimenting with the formatting of the end sections at the ARDF article. You may revert or alter it if there is something you don't like about it. I did it because all those end sections and sub-sections always bug me in articles. I just generally try to condense it. Anyways that is a really good article. I think it is ready for WP:FAC but that doesn't mean you should stop fine-tuning it. I say that not knowing anything about ARDF beyond what that article just told me. I raised some comments that could possibly help improve it even further. --maclean25 01:07, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Hey Kharker, I'm just letting you know that I've delisted Amateur Radio Direction Finding from peer review as it hasn't received a response for two weeks now. Hope to see it on WP:FAC soon.«LordViD» 16:41, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Fine business. I'm still poking around for a good map image that meets acceptable use criteria and illustrates what an ARDF map is all about. I hope to have something soon, and then plan to submit it to WP:FAC.--Kharker 16:57, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
You asked for final comments for this article before a FAC run. I would just like to bring up two points that may come up. First, the article currently has a separate "References" and "Notes" section. However, both section contain references that were used to write the article. These need to be merged - consider Short-beaked Echidna#References for something similar. Secondly, the first four images are very similar. Some of these images do not bring anything new to the article that the last image did not already cover. If you decide to remove, change or alter an image consider the aesthetics of the article, so that the reader is drawn into the article and wants to read on about the subject, at several different screen resolutions and browser text sizes. --maclean25 07:40, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- I've made the changes to the references and notes sections. As for the images, I agree that the first two might be similar to each other. The others each show something new and different. Collectively, they show a wide range of ages and nationalities involved in the sport. They show different kinds of equipment being used, and so forth. I'll think about it some, though.--Kharker 19:57, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- I trimmed one photo and adjusted the photo captions somewhat. I'll see if I still like it over the next day or so.--Kharker 23:30, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- The whole picture thing I mentioned above is a minor point that won't stop an FAC but I mentioned it because it is something that people notice (best you know before hand). I think it looks fine how it is, but someone will complain about all the images being right-justified. --maclean25 07:18, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Galv
Hey, thank you for fixing my flub! I had completely forgotten about that new toll road. I've been going to Galveston over the causeway for about a million years, and never even consider the newfangled one (well, and that I usually don't go down much past Jamaica Beach anyway). [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:RAM band Haiti 0001.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:RAM band Haiti 0001.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 15:19, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Haitian / Haïtian
Hey there, was just wondering about your addition of the diaeresis to the title of Haïtian Creole language. In general I support the usage of diacritical marks in foreign proper names, but this one seems a little incorrect to me. I've never seen the diaeresis used in the words 'Haitian' and 'Haiti' in English, and besides, it's present in the French word haïtien because the a and ï are meant to be pronounced as two distinct vowels. In English, however, the ai in Haitian is actually pronounced as one diphthong. Additionally, if you search 'Haïtian' in the English language Google search engine, all of the results on the first several pages omit the diaeresis. Perhaps you could share your reasoning for this change on the talk page? Thanks! :: Salvo (talk) 20:37, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted your changes on 2004 Haiti rebellion. The style on the English Wikipedia is that we use the name most common in English, which is "Haiti." "Haïti" is a French name, and is much more appropriate for the French Wikipedia. Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 17:46, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Harkers Canyon (Tooele County, Utah)
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Harkers Canyon (Tooele County, Utah), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 172.129.243.182 23:11, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Silent Key
Hi Kharker, absent of any attempts to source the article or establish the content as significant, I've redirected it to the parent. Please source the material and establish the notability of the term if you wish to restore or merge the content. From what I can gather this is effectively a form of radio slang, and therefore should be held to the same standards as spoken slang, i.e. existence or acceptance among a small group does not necessarily qualify it as suitable for Wikipedia. If there are reliable sources which show the term is notable, widely used etc., I'm all for it. Deiz talk 15:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Iaru logo.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Iaru logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:33, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
