Khategaon is located at 22.6° N 76.92° E^[1]. It has an average elevation of 305 metres (1000 feet).

As of 2001 India census^[2], Khategaon had a population of 21,018. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Khategaon has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 56%. In Khategaon, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age. The boys of Khategaon made the history when they selected for studies in IIT, most reputed technical institute of our country.
