Kharkhoda is a city ,Tehsil and a municipal committee in Sonipat district in the Indian state of Haryana.

Retrieved on 2007-09-03., Kharkhoda had a population of 18,758. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kharkhoda has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 56%. In Kharkhoda, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age. Famous Urdu writer and researcher Syed Qasim mahmood born here. It said to derive its name from Kharak meaning a stall. Another tradition connects it with Khara and Dushana, the brothers of Ravana, the rakshasa king of Lanka (now Sri Lanka). It is located at a distance of 19 km from the district headquarters. It has an elected municipal body to run the municipal administration of the town which also contains the headquraters of the newly-created tehsil of Kharkhoda. The historical site which is the tomb of Sayyad exists here and a fair is held annually.
The town nurses a number of places of public utility of which a college, a civil veterinary hospital, a civil dispensary, a post office and police station are worth mentioning. It is an important grain market.
