Khandar Fort

Khandar Fort is very ancient fort located in Khandar tahasil, Sawai Madhopur district, Rajasthan, India.
There are 5 ponds in this fort. This fort is located on a plateau which is about 350 meters high. It contains 4-5 temples. There are three big gates for entrance but they are damaged. One temple is there which is placed at small natural chasm in mountain, named as 'NARSINGHDHAR', where 'nar' means 'male', 'SINGH' means 'LION' and 'DHAR' means 'STREAM OF WATER'. Means the water flow which is coming out through the lion's mouth. Actually here an ancient sculpture of lion's mouth and water is flow out through this. Actually it is a temple of 'LORD HANUMAN'.
This fort is on boundary of Ranthambore tiger century. Jayanti Mata's temple also here and every year fair being hold by villager and to be part of this holy fair is really awesome. There are so many damaged sculptures are here. One Jain religion temple also here which contains wonderful three big sculptures of Jain lords.
