Khalil Roundtree
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roderick Khalil Roundtree (December 15, 1961[citation needed]–May 25, 1992), often referred to as just Khalil Roundtree, was the road manager for the R&B band Boyz II Men.
[edit] Death
While the band was touring as an opening act for MC Hammer's Too Legit to Quit tour promoting their debut album Cooleyhighharmony, Roundtree was shot and killed by an armed robber in the Guest Quarters Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, where the band was staying. His assistant Qadree El-Amin was also shot, but survived, and testified against his shooters.
On February 11, 1997, Christopher Babbington, Kenneth Copeland, and Christopher Foley were convicted for the second degree murder of Roundtree and each sentenced to serve two concurrent fourteen-year prison terms.[1]
[edit] Tribute
For the remainder of the tour, the band Boyz II Men would dedicate the performance of their hit song "End of the Road" to Roundtree. They also featured a spoken-word tribute to him on their follow-up album II by the name "Khalil (interlude)".
