Khalaj language (Iranic)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Khalaj or Hallaj is an Iranian dialect spoken by some Kurdish communities in northwestern Iran and Republic of Azerbaijan. The name of Hallaj is derived from mystic figure Mansur Al-Hallaj.

As of 2000 there were about 42000 people in Iran speaking Khalaj as their mother tongue.

This Iranic Khalaj, should not be confused with the Turkic Khalaj spoken in Iran and Afghanistan.
