Khachapuri

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Khachapuri (Georgian ხაჭაპური xač’ap’uri or "cheese bread") is a filled bread dish from Georgia. The bread is leavened and allowed to rise, and is shaped in various ways. The filling contains cheese (fresh or aged), eggs and other ingredients. Several Georgian regions have their own distinct khachapuri. The most common khachapuri is probably the Imeretian Khachapuri from the western province of Imereti. Other, popular versions of khachapuri include the Ajarian (sometimes known as Acharuli/Adjaruli), Mingrelian, and Abkhazian (commonly known as Achma) khachapuri.
