[edit] List of sexual slang
Hey -- I voted keep because I know there's precedent for lists of words. Lots and lots of precedent. This is not really dicdef. To tell you the truth I don't like the idea of lists on Wikipedia at all, but what are you going to do? User:Purplefeltangel/sig 23:29, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I like precedent over policy - there's precedent for vanity pages too, but we WP:AFD them, and I think the same should be true wherever creeping cruft starts to take over. This will happen continuously on any slang page, but it will seem condoned, or worse encouraged, on a page called "List of slang," especially as it continues to survive calls for its death. The continued presence, and sheer size, of such lists undermines the credibility of Wikipedia policy as a whole, and renders the rest of the policy difficult to enforce due to the same logic: there becomes a precedent for ignoring policy. As for what to do about it, well, that's why I consider myself a Disciplined Deletionist. YMMV. You're right about one thing though: it's not dictdef; a closer look at WP:ISNOT#Wikipedia is not a dictionary will show point #3: A usage guide, or slang and idiom guide. --Kgf0 23:57, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
- *shrug* Sorry, my vote remains keep. If enough people vote to delete it, it'll be deleted. User:Purplefeltangel/sig 00:45, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
Kgf0, I agree with you to the extent that I've put it back on AFD. And already gotten my first accusation of trying to censor wikipedia for it ;) The Literate Engineer 00:22, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
