KFXP is the local Fox affiliate for Idaho Falls and Pocatello, Idaho. It broadcasts an analog signal on channel 31, and at the current time does not broadcast a digital signal. The station is owned by Compass Communications of Idaho.

Shortly after sign-on, Fox 31 partnered with television station KPVI to provide a 9 o'clock pm newscast Monday through Friday. The concept died off after a few years and entertainment programming returned to the timeslot.

However, as of October 30, 2006; KPVI is trying a 9 o'clock newscast again on sister station KFXP which is titled "NBC Newschannel 6 at 9" as well as KXTF Fox 35 which airs in the Magic and Wood River Valleys.

[edit] Digital television

Because it was granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan on April 21, 1997 [1], the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station. Instead, on or before February 17, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, KFXP will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").
