[edit] The Artist

I am an independent artist and videomaker working almost exclusively with metal bands in Atlanta, Georgia. Although I am not a resident of that fair city, I am often seen lurking about in many of its clubs and music venues, haunting the footsteps of the musicians who perform there.

[edit] The Art

My artistic projects have been numerous, including photography, graphic design, and DVD production. I have done album cover art, logos, and I'm also currently doing a music video project (which has been on hold for technical reasons).

[edit] The Project

I am currently involved in a not-so-secret project in documenting the local metal scene in Atlanta, focusing on several bands I consider notable. In videotaping and photographing these bands, I have found many things to inspire me, and many things to which I can relate as an artist. These guys sacrifice much to perform for very little, and regardless of the fact that they are little-known, there is a plethora of musical talent. Above all, whatever their level of talent or career options, these guys give it their all. Their motivations can be simplified into the statement that "they do it because they love it," but in many cases it goes far beyond that. Whatever their motivations, I find that my own motivation to continue with an often difficult task is always regenerated when I see what these guys go through to make their art, and to bring that art to their audience.

[edit] The Product

When complete, the project will be a DVD which will include

  • concert footage
  • band interviews
  • behind-the-scenes footage
  • anecdotal footage
  • fan interviews

[edit] The Disclaimer

I want to note here that I do not expect this project to ever be a for-profit venture. I also do not expect that I will ever recoop the expenditures I've made. I want it to be known that my only motivation for doing what I'm doing is because I had an instinct from the very beginning that this could become a fantastic piece when it is done. I still believe that, even though there have been many setbacks and difficulties. Also part of this disclaimer is the fact that my contributions to Wikipedia are simply a by-product of my interest in the Atlanta metal scene, and bears no relation to my work on the project. It is simply my desire to see these guys get the recognition they deserve that has prompted my work here.
