[edit] QEH
Thanks for adding the William Bird / Samuel Hartnell bit. I thought it was them, but couldn't remember, and wiki has nothing on them. By the way, are you sure it's a statue of some random boy? I was always told it was John carr holding the school's charter. mattbuck 14:14, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't remember anyone claiming that it was John Carr when I was an inmate at QEH. It would seem unlikely as the badge on his chest has a "B" on it. I'll email the school and ask them! Kev (talk) 15:30, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- I wonder if Stainer's still there. He was cool. mattbuck 16:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Duncan "Noddy" Stainer you mean? He was there in my day although he never taught me. He did take us on some memorable hikes though. Kev (talk) 19:11, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah. I was taught by him for three years. I had a great maths teacher, Mr Pearson, but he left when I did and only joined when I was in year 10. mattbuck 11:13, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Just got a reply from the school and the statue is of nobody in particular. It dates from the old St Bartholemews site in the C17th. My maths teachers were, in no particular order, Ron Tandy, Dave Bowyer, Bill Ellis, Roger Hardy and Granville Sykes. Drop me an email if you want to reminisce properly!
