Kevin O'Donovan was born on December 16, 1974, in the now-defunct Fort Ord, California. As an Air Force "brat," he moved often in his early years, living in California, New Mexico, the Philippines, Virginia, and Florida. In 1984, his father retired, and the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Kevin finished the rest of his youth, graduating from Sandia Preparatory School in 1993.
He attended George Washington University and graduated in 1997 with his BA in Latin American Studies. From 1997-1998, he lived in Illinois and attended a Master's program in Latin American Studies at the University of Chicago; however, he did not finish the degree.
He got married in Chicago on June 27, 1998. From 1998-1999, while his wife was finishing her BA, Kevin worked as an office manager for a small non-profit organization in Washington, DC.
In 1999, Kevin and his wife moved to North Carolina. He worked for Duke University from 1999-2003, and he now works for a small medical education company in Chapel Hill. In his free time, he likes to write movie reviews, which he republishes on his blog.
