Haha; Cmon, I don't think that last part ("in some circles he is concidered to be god") needs to be there. MichaelD 20:34, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Shoe-gazer.
I belive (apart from the Loveless album) My Bloody Valentine has hardly any resemblance to the shoe-gazer rock scene. Even though many shoe-gazer bands are influenced by My Bloody Valentine.
I have also been told that My Bloody Valentine used reverse reverb only. I haven't checked into that myself but it sounds pretty resonable as My Bloody Valentine doesn't realy have reverb sounding. No heavy use.
- That's interesting, because I have read that MBV exclusively used tremelo exclusively, and that the title of their EP Tremelo was intended by Shields as some sort of taunt to other shoegazer bands who had to rely on a wider range of pedals.--KASchmidt 09:33, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
You don't need pedals for reverb, its been a feature of amps, as well as a natural feature of sound and music, since forever. If you don't think they use reverb, listen to "(Please)lose yourself in me" from Ecstasy and Wine. --B. Phillips 17:59, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] EAR
You haven't mentioned his band with people of Spacemen 3 or spiritualized, can't remember: Experimental audio research.
That would be Sonic Boom from Spacemen 3; Spiritualized is Jason's post-Spacemen band. Never heard that Shields was involved in EAR, though. 83.227.156.138 23:36, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Picture?
How about a good picture of Kevin? http://www.limeweb.com/myspacepics/kevin-shields.jpg
[edit] AMG entry?
I've looked him up on AMG and there's virtually nothing, just a list of bands with whom he's been involved in the past, but only My Bloody Valentine and Experimental Audio Research are on there; it mentions nothing of his work in recent years with Primal Scream. There isn't even a bio for the poor chap. I was considering sending in some info on him, but it would be liberated from here, and I'm not the author of the Wiki article, so, if anyone feels inclined, maybe the actual author, please, for his sake, don't feel deterred from Ctrl+V'ing some sentences over there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.71.245.81 (talk) 16:32, 6 December 2006 (UTC).
[edit] References Stuffs
I'm removing the "unreferenced" header since, while not completely referenced, I think it is sufficient and comparable to many pages without the header. --Bfarb 02:54, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Was just wondering when 'You Made Me Realise' reached 40 minutes? I saw it a number of times 89-92 and the longest I ever heard it was 20 minutes roughly. Sorry about my user name. I've been using it for a decade on the internet....didn't think I'd ever interface with MBV stuff...feel a bit of a fan nut :) Honey power 19:29, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] nice one....
Yo Bumhoolery, thanks for the comment ("Childhood and Formative Years - To the self-satisfied fuck who wrote this most: kill yourself, and read"). I admit it isn't the smoothest read but I did my best to quickly and simply capture the facts. If you think you can bring your brain above the level of a 6th grader and actually word it better instead of engaging in baseless name calling, please be my guest.
