Kevin Penny is an English rugby league winger. Penny plays for Warrington Wolves in the European Super League. Penny is also a youth level international for England.
Warrington's free-scoring winger Kevin Penny has signed a new, enhanced four-year deal keeping him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of the 2011 season. [1]
Penny's game involves running and power, similar to Matty Bowen, Gareth Raynor and Mark Calderwood. After a Challenge Cup tie against St Helens, his play on the wing was compared by BBC commentator Ray French to Saints' South African wing of the 1960s, Tom van Vollenhoven.
Kevin Penny joined the Wolves academy in 2005 after being spotted playing basketball at school. [2]
Kevin received the engage Super League player of the month award for his efforts during the month of July 2007, despite starting the month with only 5 first grade games next to his name. He scored 5 tries in just 3 games during the month, 3 of which were scored in the space of just 9 minutes against the Salford City Reds. Penny ended 2007 with 15 try's in 15 games.
He was named in the 2007 dream team[3] and has been selected in the initial train on squad for Great Britain.
He has been given the number 5 shirt this season, and will play outside Australian Test Centre Matt King, in a new look left side. [4]
