Kevin Okimoto is the guitar and vocals in the Hawaiian band Opihi pickers.
He joined the Opihi Pickers shortly before the group began recording their Beginnings CD in 1999.
His interest in music began at a young age with his mother as a major influence on his desire to be a singer when he grew up. Okimoto's first recording with the group was the song "Haleakala", done in her honor and in her memory and included on the first CD Okimoto recorded with the group.[citation needed]
As a teen Okimoto spent time singing with friends and developing his vocal style. He sang music in a variety of genres including ballads, R & B, falsetto, Hawaiian, and reggae.[citation needed]
Okimoto brings a beautiful vocal style to the group and his energy has helped raise the groups live performances to a higher level.[citation needed]
Okimoto is also an avid surfer of green boards.
