[edit] Professional career

[edit] Debut fight

McIntyre's first fight as a professional boxer was in November 1998, at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow, Scotland, when he beat fellow debutant Ray Wood with a fourth round knockout.[1]

[edit] First title fight

McIntyre won 14 of his first 16 fights, with 6 wins by KO, when he fought for his first title belt against Craig Lynch again at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow, for the vacant BBBofC Scottish Area welterweight title. McIntyre, won the title with a ten round point decision.[1]

[edit] Title defeats

Over the following three years McIntyre would fight for three titles belts, the British welterweight title against David Barnes which he lost by TKO in the eighth round, the British Light Welterweight Title Eliminator against Nigel Wright which he lost by TKO in the first round and the British Masters Light Welterweight Title against Gary Reid which he lost by TKO in the sixth round.[1]

[edit] Title wins

After losing the Reid, McIntyre spent almost a year out of the ring and returned in May 2007 with a victory over David Wakefield. He then followed this up by winning the BBBofC Celtic welterweight title against the previously unbeaten Tony Doherty.

McIntyre again challenged for the British welterweight title, which he unsuccessfully fought for against David Barnes in December 2003, when faced fellow Scot Kevin Anderson in November 2007. McIntyre took the title from Anderson with a one sided points decision and had him on the canvas twice during the fight.

McIntyre fought a rematch against Anderson on 29 February 2008, at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall. The bout ended as another twelve-round points victory for McIntyre.[1]
