Kevin J. Worthen

Kevin J. Worthen is the current dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.

Worthen was appointed to this position in February of 2004. [1]
Worthen is a Latter-day Saint and served a mission in Monterrey, Mexico. Worthen received an associates degree from the College of Eastern Utah and his bachelors degree from Brigham Young University.[2]
Worthen graduated at the top of his class from the BYU law school in 1982. For the next two years he was a clerk first for Malcolm R. Wilkey and then for Byron R. White.[3]
He is an expert in American Indian law. His theories on assimilation that grow out of this study are also widely repeated.[4] Worthen was a 1995 contributor to Cohen's Handbook of Federal Indian Law.[5]
From 1984-1987 he practiced law in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 1987 he became a member of the J. Reuben Clark Law School faculty. He spent one semester as a visiting instructor in Chile.
In 2002 Worthen served as vice chair of the Utah Constitution Revision Commission.[6]
