Kevin James Dean, born (1971, in Syracuse, NY) is the drummer for the hard rock band Brand New Sin and The Undesirables (a side project featuring members of BNS). He (as well as the rest of the band) had a cameo in the Jack Black movie School of Rock.
Kevin began drumming at age 11 and played in concert band throughout High School (Solvay, NY) and Jazz Combo senior year. He studied privately with Vinnie Ludovico (Masters Of Reality, The Bogeymen), Ron Keck (Syracuse Brigadiers, Subcat Studios), Larry Luttinger (Syracuse Symphony, CNY Jazz Foundation), and John Barker (O.C.C.). He received his A.A.S. in Music Education in 1993 from Onondaga Community College. He Joined the reformed Syracuse Brigadiers in 1991 under the guidance of National Champion Ron Keck.
Kevin has been teaching privately since 1993. He taught at The Music Center in Syracuse for two years until he joined national recording artists Brand New Sin in October of 2002. Now he teaches several students, one of which is Michael Serrao.
He has performed in Syracuse area bands such as The 3rd Party, White Wine, M.T. Web, The Buttafuco's, The United Booty Foundation, Soul Massage, and Three Man Bomb. He has filled in for Clavin's Mother, The United Booty Foundation, Dracula Jones, The Electric Chick Magnets, Cliff Diver, Me Myself and Devon, Grantlit, Square Pegs, Litizia, Shovelhead, and Nikki Feroni and appears on recordings by Ashley Cox and Mike Borgia. Kevin Dean has recorded 2 full length CDs (Brand New Sin - Recipe For Disaster and Tequila) and 1 EP (Brand New Sin - Black and Blue) released world-wide on Century Media Records (Caroline Distribution and CM Distro). He and Brand New Sin also recorded 4 singles with producer Tony Battaglia (Shinedown).
Kevin has toured extensively in the United States alongside artists such as Saliva, Breaking Benjamin, Mushroomhead, Clutch, Black Label Society, Corrosion of Conformity, Motorhead, Life of Agony, The Cult, Bloodsimple, Isabelle's Gift, Soundevice, Throttlerod, Society 1, Scum of The Earth, Soil, Type O Negative, Slayer, and Kittie.
