Kevin Coleman

Kevin Coleman (born October 21, 1965) was the original drummer for Smash Mouth. Coleman started Smash Mouth with lead vocalist Steven Harwell (whose rap group, F.O.S., he formerly managed), Greg Camp, and Paul De Lisle and played on the band's first 3 albums, Fush Yu Mang, Astro Lounge, and The East Bay Sessions. Coleman and Harwell were best friends and roommates, and Smash Mouth formed when Camp saw their drum-and-vocals outfit and decided to join, bringing in his friend De Lisle. However, Coleman left the band immediately after the recording of Astro Lounge in 1999 due to severe lower back problems. He was replaced temporarily during the Astro Lounge tour by Mitch Marine and was permanently replaced by studio drummer Michael Urbano following the tour. Kevin Coleman's ex-girlfriend gave birth to his child, Kyler, in 2001. Kevin began recording music with other artists but never took part in making any additional records. Kevin left his girlfriend and child behind in Las Vegas in 2006. He ventured off to Casa Grande, Arizona, where his sister and parents live.
