[edit] Biography

Kevin Carrico was born in Waltham, Massachusetts and raised outside Detroit in Royal Oak, Michigan. He formed an early interest in filmmaking and began shooting everything from war movies to clay animation since age 11. In school Carrico would often convince his teachers to allow him to incorporate film into his other studies such as physics, math, biology and history — often submitting documentary or fiction films instead of written reports.

Once enrolled at Wayne State University, it was quickly apparent that his film skills exceeded those of his instructors, and Carrico took directed studies at an advanced level. Since he had already begun freelancing in the production industry, Carrico was asked to help instruct his classmates and assist in running the university's film department.

Since childhood, Carrico has known many Detroit-based musicians and naturally prefers to work with them in commercials, music videos and film; these relationships have led to strong musical influences in his work. Carrico's extensive film experience underscores his pioneering work in digital cinematography and computer-generated imagery (CGI). In 2000, one of his HD projects was selected by Sony for worldwide demonstrations of their newly-released CineAlta HD/24p (HDW-F900) camera system.
