[edit] Fraternity and Sorority Pins

A tag has been placed on Fraternity and Sorority Pins, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Fraternity and Sorority Crests. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Corvus cornixtalk 22:57, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop deleting speedy deletion tags from articles you have created

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Fraternity and Sorority Pins. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. Corvus cornixtalk 23:04, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not a problem

Wikipedia articles should be encyclopedia articles. They should contain text. If you were to write an article about the history of crests and pins, and their purpose, etc., then that would be a perfectly fine, and great, article. But an article that just contains pictures will get deleted. If you can assure me that you are planning on adding text, I will remove the speedy deletion tags. Corvus cornixtalk 23:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Go ahead and recreate the deleted article, and explain our disucssoin on the article's Talk page, then add text, and you should be ok. Corvus cornixtalk 02:08, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fraternity & Sorority Life Contributions

No worries--I had Greek Life articles deleted when I first started editing as well. My recommendation: get your information on pins and crests into the main fraternities & sororities article (which is a complete mess--but it's not being deleted anytime soon). You can then use maybe one pin and one crest as images in the article. Otherwise, keep things on Wikimedia Commons. Add a theme to them so that they can be traced to fraternities & sororities. Articles on en.Wikipedia itself need to be pretty substantial and the admins aren't super nice to "works in progress." Corsulian (talk) 00:35, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

You'll probably be better off not using your User Page as a sandbox for drafting the articles too. Corsulian (talk) 00:37, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
