Coordinates: Kesinga is a town and a notified area committee in Kalahandi district in the Indian state of Orissa.

Kesinga is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 187 metres (613 feet). River Tel and Uteh meet not very far from Kesinga, providing appreciable ground for summer sand crops(cucumber, watermelon etc). Another landmark of Kesinga is Budhadangar (old mountain) at the middle of the town. This mountain has profound affect on the climate of Kesinga.

As of 2001 India census[2], Kesinga had a population of 16,914. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kesinga has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 44%. In Kesinga, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. Kesinga is the major rail head in kalahandi district. It is considered as the gateway of kalahandi
Apart from being a railhead for the region, Kesinga also serves as the place of enormous business activity. It is the economic heartthrob of surrounding area, where farmers can get a fare price for produce. Equipped with scores of rice mills Kesinga serves the very interest of wealthy businessman.A godown of FCI gives the storage facility for farmers and rice mill owners. There are numerous cloth stores in the market area which was deconstructed by administration.
