Kerry Mayo (born September 21, 1977) is an English footballer who currently plays left back for Brighton & Hove Albion. He was born in Cuckfield, a village in West Sussex.
Mayo was a trainee with the Seagulls and signed a professional contract with them in July 1996 and the Football League One side remain the only club he has ever played for. Mayo is one of only a handful of players to have played for the club at 3 different home grounds, The Goldstone Ground, The Priestfield Stadium and the Withdean Stadium.
Mayo has won two championship medals with the club in 2001 and 2002 and was runner-up for the Player of the Year Award in 2003, losing out to Danny Cullip.
Kerry Mayo's wife is also named Kerry, leading to the chant "Two Kerry Mayo's, there's only two Kerry Mayo's" . He is also nicknamed the Ginger Prince because of his hair colour.
On the 6th May 2008, it was confirmed that Mayo, along with experienced trio Guy Butters, Gary Hart and Paul Reid were to be released from the club.[1]
Contrary to popular belief, Kerry Mayo is not related to radio disc jockey Simon Mayo.
