Kerrin started skiing for the Canadian Women's Ski Team in 1982, but suffered a number of knee operations over years including two complete reconstructions. However, a successful 1991-92 season with eight top-ten finishes was capped with Kerrin becoming the first Canadian athlete to win an Olympic Gold medal in downhill skiing at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville.
