[edit] Adopt You
I'd be glad to adopt you. :) I already adopted a couple people, but they haven't really been contacting me, so it should be fine. When you want to get in touch, you can post on my talk page or email me again. Thanks for trying to avoid duplication with World Editor. In the future, you probably want to see Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages. In this case, I just created a redirect to Warcraft III World Editor; that way anyone looking for World Editor will find Warcraft III World Editor. It's possible that this and/or Ultimate footmen might get deleted if they aren't considered notable (important) enough. Regardless, Ultimate footmen definitely needs a better layout. Let me know if you have questions.
P.S. Admins aren't only experienced users here, and we don't run the site. Superm401 - Talk 11:56, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ultimate footmen
Okay, I should clarify more. First, as a rule section headers shouldn't be questions. It's an encyclopedia article, not an FAQ; these are very different. For such a short article, you don't need a section like "What is it?" at all (for complex topics you might have a "Definition" section). Instead, it's better take the first section header out. That results in a short blurb before the TOC, which is the proper format here. Start every article with the subject in bold. Never link to any other site in the intro (in this case it was also a duplicate link, which should be avoided). In general, all links should be in an External links section (don't capitalize the world "links") at the end, or in footnotes. Keep section headings short; why have "History of the Game"? Everyone already knows you're talking about a game so "History" is fine. To learn about these kinds of issues, you should look through Wikipedia:Manual of style.
Another issue with the article is that it doesn't have enough context. You know all about Footmen and WoW. But imagine if someone got to that page randomly, and didn't know anything about Footmen or WoW (I know very little about this myself). You need to explain these basics, since the article is written for people who don't know yet. One way to do this is to link to appropriate articles, like World of Warcraft, Massively multi-player online role playing game
Another problem is that the article reads like a how-to guide. Wikipedia is not (check out that page) a how-to. You should tell the way things are, but not give advice. You also have a bit of speculation, like "probably the second-most frequently played Footmen map currently in existence." You should only say something when you have a reliable source; if you don't it's better not to say it at all.
Finally, please keep your opinions, like "Personal feuds between the two are also attributed to the breakup of the pair, though it might have been for the best." out of the article. You should only mention an opinion if you can attribute it to a notable source.
I've started to improve the article (shortening it a lot in the process), and it would be great if you helped. However, I don't want you to get your hopes up about this article. It is quite likely to get deleted eventually, as I said before. It will still be worthwhile if you learn something. I recommend you also look at Wikipedia:First article and some of the featured articles for inspiration. Let me know if you have more questions.Superm401 - Talk 00:13, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
