[edit] Fair use image use

I've removed a large number of fair use tagged images from templates that you have worked on. Per policy at Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9, the use of fair use images on templates is proscribed. Please do not reinser the images onto these templates. You are welcome to add free license images, but town/city/county seals are not generally free license. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. --Durin 18:43, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New York templates

Very nice job on the templates! I've been meaning to do those for quite a while. I have, however, added  's and added each template to Category:New York navigational boxes. Keep up the good work. --Zimbabweed 07:24, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Huntington ny seal.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Huntington ny seal.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 18:19, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mary's grave

Welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as Mary's grave) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. If you want to test things out, edit the sandbox instead. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. SyBerWoLff 22:52, 10 March 2007 (UTC) I asked someone from Long Island and they said no. I appologise for marking it as nonsense I should have marked it as a page without context.

[edit] Little context in Hand gliding

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Hand gliding, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Hand gliding is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Hand gliding, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:21, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] May 2007

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Arlington, Texas. Readers looking for serious articles will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write (almost) whatever you want. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Fearless-Music.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Fearless-Music.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:38, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Atlantik (game)

I see you want to get it deleted. As you are the only contributor I don't think you need to do more than just add {{db-author}} to it. I did that for you now... let's see what happens. Greswik (talk) 19:30, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Atlantik (game)

A tag has been placed on Atlantik (game) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calton | Talk 02:18, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
