Here on Wikipedia I strive to improve articles for classic African American R&B, funk and pop artist. I also revert vandalism, fix grammatical errors and delete irrelevant, poorly sourced or useless information. My current WikiGoals are to get the Rick James' songs "Ebony Eyes" and "Mary Jane" to good article, this is a near impossible task as there are very few reliable sources available with information on the subjects, so all help is appreciated. I also plan on improving Philippé Wynne's article as well.
[edit] About Me
Music is a very big part of my life and as one of my user boxes indicate I would perish without listening to it on the daily basis. My taste in music have been described as "unusual" for someone my age but in my opinion the classic Motown groups are some of the greatest. Among my favorite artist(s) and groups are The Temptations, James Brown, Rick James, The Commodores, Marvin Gaye, The Gap Band, The Ohio Players, Parliament Funkadelic, The Spinners (Soul band), Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Teddy Pendergrass, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Al Green, Luther Vandross. The genres I enjoy listening to range from Soul to funk, although I mostly enjoy listening to the style of music Rick James once labeled as "punk-funk" which apparantlly combined rock and funk into one. This style has since then been used by artists with songs that defined the new genre such as Prince, Cameo, The Gap Band, The Commodores, and even The Ohio Players.
I oppose all forms of racism, sexism and all the other bad "isms" out there, however I still edit with the same neutrality regardless of whether I'm writing about Hitler or Martin Luther King, Jr. Despite my opinions on the matter I realize Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and those seeking information in future years should be able to use this resource for information without biased or inaccurate information. From what those seeking information read they can come to their own conclusions on the matter, they don't need those editing it to withhold or add certain information to change their point of views on the matter. If they wanted to see that they'd go to a fan or hate web site (which Wikipedia is hopefully not). The bottom line is a neutral point of view on all matters is necessary to eliminate the criticism and ignorance often associated with Wikipedia. I like to think when Wikipedia was originally created those who collaborated on some of the very first articles had a dream that one day all of the unbiased knowledge in the world would become available to anyone for no price at all, and I think one day we (the editors of Wikipedia) will achieve that goal through hard work and good old fashion editing with a NPOV.
