55 doesn't terminate at Campbellsville. Rather, it skips up to Lebanon where it resumes and proceeds northward through Springfield, Bloomfield, Taylorsville, Elk Creek, Shelbyville, and Eminence. From Eminence it proceeds northward toward New Castle and appears to terminate at its intersection with US 421 about three miles south of New Castle.

That would take it through Marion, Washington, Nelson, Spencer, Shelby, and Henry counties.
