Kenny James is best known as the Male Vocal Grand Champion of the TV show Star Search in 1985, where he won 13 times and garnered the grand champion prize of $100,000.00 in the male vocal category. Kenny James is an accomplished musician and graphic artist.

Kenny James was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, Connecticut, U.S. in a musical family. His mother was a jazz singer in the late 1940s and early 50s. His Grandmother was the choir director of the church he grew up in. His father was a well-known prizefighter in the New England region during the same period. Growing up with two parents whose lives revolved around music and sports, it is no surprise that the love of the arts has become an integral part of Kenny's life.
Kenny attended Paier School of Art in Hamden Connecticut where he studied oil and acrylic painting and graphic design. After Paier Kenny embarked on a music career of his own which afforded him the opportunity to travel and absorb the many different cultures around the world. Many know Kenny from his many nightclub dates throughout the world particularly in the Los Angeles area.
One of his many claim to fame periods in his musical career was on the TV show Star Search where he won 13 times and garnered the grand champion prize of $100,000.00 in the male vocal category. That led to many other appearances on TV, radio and records throughout the world including international competition festivals where he won their Grand Prix Prize in Jakarta, Indonesia, Sopot, Poland, and Finland being the only American out of 23 different countries.
More recently Kenny has been spending time in the Caribbean, island hopping. Much of his current work has been influenced by that part of the world. "I love the way the Caribbean people use color in every part of their lives, and those colors that God blessed them with is a feast for my eyes. I'll continually reach out to entertain people with my art and music, enjoying their interpretation of what I create.” “ I call it spreadin’ the love and the gift.” Kenny currently resides in southern California with his wife and son.
