Kenneth LaValle

Kenneth P. LaValle represents District 1 in the New York State Senate, which comprises Port Jefferson, Westhampton, Coram and Mastic, among other communities found on Long Island, New York.
First elected in 1976, he currently chairs the Education Committee in the State Senate, of which he was the former Executive Director. He is also a member of the Agriculture, Education, Finance and Rules committees, among other standing committee assignments.
He is the author of the Pine Barrens Preservation Act of 1993, and was instrumental in supporting New York State's STAR property tax relief program.
Senator LaValle holds a B.A. from Adelphi College, an Education degree from SUNY-New Paltz and a J.D. from Jacob D. Fuchsberg Touro Law Center.
