Kendriya Vidyalaya Ottapalam
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kendriya Vidyalaya Ottapalam[1] was started in 1986, thanks to the magnificent efforts by Sri KR Narayanan, then member of parliament from Ottapalam. The school was started in a humble manner with less than 120 students in a rented premise in Kanniampuram.
In 1992, the School shifted to Palappuram - where they had a magnificent 16 Acre Campus, Full Fledged Staff Quarters, a Mammoth School Building, and 3 large playgrounds.
None other than the then Vice president (and later the President of the Republic of India) - Mr. K.R. Narayanan inaugurated the K.V. Ottapalam Building in 1992. Fleets of helicopters landing on the nearby NSS College Ground, and black-cats (president's security) jumping out of them - was a sight to see.
[edit] Campus
The school is situated in a picturesque campus in close proximity to the famous bharathapuzha river. It is situated at a distance of approximately 5 km from Ottapalam town. It has two main grounds. The building is of traditional Kerala style with a nadumittam (courtyard) where assembly is held. The school has 3 playgrounds which could nourish the spirit of children and brighten their spirits. The view from top of the school is breathtaking. The school has sufficient classrooms and well maintained labs.
