Kendriya Vidyalaya Mankhurd is a school run by Indian Navy's Unit CABS(Commodore Bureau of Sailors). Its Principal is Mrs. Deepika Karnani, Vice Principal is Mr. Prashant Ghanekar
Far from the maddening crowd of the metropolis, in the lap of lush green surroundings of two hilloids, there stands a model co-educational school, KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA, MANKHURD which is reminiscent of our ancient gurukulas. Its calm atmosphere, free of pollution but full of scenic beauty, constantly inspires the pupils to excel. Its location in a naval residential area provides optimum safety. This Vidyalaya is in the eastern suburb of Mumbai and is a link between greater Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Situated 1/2km from Mankhurd station, at a suburban railway station of Mumbai.
Established in 1987, the Vidyalaya runs under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi that is governed by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development and funded by the Central Government. At present, it has about 1,110 students.
The Vidyalaya Management Committee at local level is headed by a Chairman, who is Commodore, Bureau of Sailors, Indian Navy, Mankhurd. The Vidyalaya can boast of its efficient and experienced Principal and well qualified, centrally selected sincere and devoted team of teachers. The fact that the staff live on the school campus has proved to be an added advantage to enable the Vidyalaya to produce excellent academic results. Our students find their way into institutions of higher learning like Indian Institutes of Technology & N.D.A. and professional courses like medical, engineering, C.A. etc. Some of them are also placed abroad.
The Vidyalaya has a very spacious and attractive ‘H’ shaped, well-ventilated, three-winged building. The long open corridors lend it a real free atmosphere. The adequate number of neat and clean, white tiled toilets with proper ventilation and uninterrupted water supply speaks volumes of the Vidyalaya’s concern for the health and hygiene of its students.
The big, airy, well-illuminated and crystal clean classrooms have properly laid out furniture. Each classroom is fully equipped with green glass board, display board, in-built almirahs and all electrical fitting for the use of audio-visual aids. The average strength of the class is 35 students, which facilitate the teacher to impart individual attention to each child.
To increase the knowledge of students, there is a spacious, well-lit and well-ventilated library with a computer. Newspaper, books and magazines on a variety of subjects, including current affairs, are always available there.
