Ken O'Keefe was born Kenneth Roy Nichols, he changed his name in 2000 to reflect his Irish roots. Born on July 21, 1969 in Napa, California, he was raised in San Diego, California and graduated from Mira Mesa High School in 1987. In 1989 he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. O'Keefe served in the 1991 Gulf War and earned a unit Combat Action Award for service in Kuwait.[1]
