From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ken McLeod (born 1948) is a Buddhist teacher and writer who lives in Los Angeles, California. He was born in England and grew up in Ontario, Canada.

His principal teacher was Kalu Rinpoche, whom he met in Sonada, India in 1970. Under Rinpoche's guidance he learned the Tibetan language and completed two traditional three-year retreats during the 1970s and early 1980s. He became a prominent translator of the traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings, including a landmark translation of The Great Path of Awakening by Jamgon Kongtrul, a key text in the teaching of Lojong (in Tibetan, tonglen).[1]

In 1985 he settled in Los Angeles, first teaching at a traditional Tibetan Buddhist center, then on his own using a "consultant-client model".[2]
