Kelvin flats

Kelvin Flats were part of Sheffield's solution to the housing shortage in the 60's. It was four stories high, with massive walkways. The name of the four floors, in asscending order was Kelvin Walk, Portland Walk, Woolen Walk and the top floor was Edith Walk. There was over a 1000 flats in total. There were three sets of flats including the Kelvin in Sheffield which were described as GIANT WALKWAYS IN THE SKY. The other two were Park Hill and Hyde Park Flats. Park hill is a listed buidling as it was the first set of flats ever built like this in the whole of Europe. The Kelvin flats was situated off Langsett Road. It was knocked down in the early 90's.
