Kelso Breeders' Cup Handicap
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Kelso Breeders' Cup Handicap is a race for thoroughbred horses. Named for the five times Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year, Kelso, the race is open to horses, age three and up, willing to race the distance of one mile on the Belmont Park turf. A Grade II, the Kelso is a fall prep to the Breeders' Cup Mile and offers a purse of $250,000.
The Kelso BC was run at a mile and a quarter on the turf from 1984 to 1987, but the distance changed to one mile in 1988.
